Tomato Plant Leaves

Someone's given me some surplus tomato plants, they're approx 8" tall or so but some of the top leaves have a brown/tan papery sort of spotting to them.

I'm not sure what this is? Is it bad? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

 

Probably just that they have got cold - is that likely?

 

I guess its possible, they only gave them to me yesterday, so anything may have happened prior to that i suppose.
Will they be ok?

It ifs just cold they will be fine, but personally I would try to avoid it because it takes them a while to get going again, so its quite a big check. They kinda take a bury-their-heads-in-sand attitude when they catch a cold.

 

Sounds to me like it could just be scorch due to the leaves being wet with the sun shining on them, without a picture its a bit difficult to say.

I always reckon if the plants have got chilled they usually take on a kind of purple look, especially the leaf viens.

 

I'll try and get a picture tomorrow, as the husband is out with the camera tonight.

Thanks for the help so far guys, i don't want to chuck perfectly healthy plants, but if they're going to be no good i'd rather go and get me some new ones asap!

 

I agree with Pete. Sounds very much like scorch, so will not be a problem.:gnthb:

 

Personally I wouldn't take a risk with any plant that doesn't look quite right and you don't know what is wrong with it, it's not worth the risk easy enough to grow some from seed,now is the right time.
