    hello fellow gardeners,
After renovations we have a new large kitchen window looking onto a 6' fence - very dull. I am going to plant a rose against the fence, but a gardener suggested I also plant a Trachelospermum so there is something there year round. They can get somewhat out of hand though in this part of the world - SW London. Has anyone experience of Trachelospermum asiaticum 'Ogon'. I am wondering just how manageable it might be, and if it might not be TOO small for the spot. The fence is about 12 foot long although I dont need full cover. It faces the house, is east facing, but will receive alot of bright light and some full sun in the morning. Many thanks all. Stay dry if you can

I think the Trachelospermum would swamp the rose and the fence although I don't know that particular variety.

How about an evergreen clematis which flowers in the winter, C. cirrhosa 'Freckles' or Jingle Bells'. Delicate, pretty leaves and creamy bell shaped flowers are often in bloom at Christmas, and loved by early bees. Much easier to keep under control.
