There were a myriad of these treelets in the carpark up in the mountains today and naturally one leapt into the car with me as I was leaving ....

I know what it isn't (Jacaranda, Albizia) but would really like to know what it is as it will depend on what I do with it. Could it be a Robinia pseudoacacia? We've never been to this place before so I don't know its habits and I didn't see any pods.

    Thank you in advance. :)

Could it be Ailanthus again? I don't think it's a robinia, they have more roundish leaflets ;)

    Evening Kalmia and Ivory.

Kalmia, I don't think it's a Sumach (Rhus) as we had them all over the place in Bonchurch (IoW) although these seem as prolific as them .... Also, the 'parent' trees of these are much taller than any Sumach I've seen.

Ivory, I had an Ailanthus altissima in Buckinghamshire and I don't think it's that .... and I must say following the previous thought of one, mine was never invasive and I had it for 18 years., although I was told it would be.

Also, I must admit I haven't seen either of the above here .... but that doesn't mean anything.

    Please keep thinking .... :)

I agree with Ivory, looks like ailanthus to me as well.

They only sucker if the roots get damaged.

Another thing, they dont, as far as I know, ripen their seeds in the UK, so cant spread by that method over here.

Portugal is a different proposition, I would guess they could become a real pest.
Which I think they are classified as in the US.

The seed definitely ripe in (North) Italy.

I pulled seedlings from the cracks of the pavement, all around the trees. Still they are very beautiful.
