I better type quickly as I had done this and was proofing it when ... pop ... off went the electricity ... aagghh!

Okay, first shrub is small and sprawling with 3x4cm leathery leaves on a woody stem and clusters of purple/black berries.

This one was up in the hills and is a trailing plant that was in a shrub border. It has a woody stem and 2cm leaves in rosettes. At first I thought it was Plectranthus Coleoides Marginata (the Swedish Ivy) but I'm not sure.

    Thank you.

    Wild guess,
No 1 looks a bit like arctostaphylos of some kind.
No 2, looks familiar but cant place it.

Could be right on No 1 pete ... will have to look further. Folk are over tomorrow then we won't see them for six weeks so would be nice to tell them what they have. Thanks.

No 2 still to be identified ...

If we could have seen the flowers on No 1, it would have been a dead giveaway.
I seem to remember growing a house plant that looked like no 2 once, a long time ago.

Have to wait till next year for the flowers on No 1 pete. [IMG]

Could it be Swedish Ivy on No 2, I think a very old-fashioned plant?

I have a non-variegated Plectranthus, argentatus I think - but I am not sure of the species. The most notable thing about it is the distinctive smell of the leaves. Do yours small lol ? - and as a member of the mint family does it have square stems?

Hello David, strongy and PeterS. I have also been away for a couple of days plus had the phone lines down so have just read your answers and thank you for replying.

PeterS, it is only a small cutting I have and those stems do not appear to be square and no, it does not appear to have any particular scent. What I did just notice as I went to investigate these two things was that some of the leaves have now tinged pink ... probably the cool nights we are experiencing, down to 18!

I am trying to root both specimens so will come back to this at a later date.

    Thank you all for responding.
