:) Good evening, folk. Hope you are all having a good Bank Holiday weekend ... the 'holiday' here was actually on the 1st strangely enough ... May Day ... ... it's been a hot weekend here with temps of 25-26 .... phew!

Anyway, we have been curious about this vine for many years and this year let one 'do its thing' in the olive tree next to the kitchen .... it is currently making a disasterous mess of pollen everywhere ... any ideas?

Yes it does look like ivy.

Good guess A and pete ... but wrong ... it's an annual and grows to 3-4 meters in a season. I originally thought a grapevine but .... wrong!

Sorry about the poor quality pics ... trying out new things with the new camera ... here are some more just a while ago ... does Ivy have flowers? ....

... and what Ivy has such pollen? and these leaves go to 15-20cms ....

    Right, I'm getting interested now.
Does it grow from a large tuberous root?
Probably dieing down in the summer in your part of the world.

Does it have male and female flowers? The males in a cluster and the females separate in the leaf axils?
Got a feeling its some kind of root succulent.

Looks like it has tendrils also

Hi MG ... glad I've stirred some interest now ...

Yes, it is tuberous .... very much so ... to Australia I think .... :D

Dies down in the winter here ... grows like wildfire in the winter/spring and now to what I'm showing.

Will have to do a sexual examination tomorrow in the daylight .... we are dark now .... :hehe:

Yes, will go with the tendril bit also as it's clinging to the olive tree ...

The pollen is absolutely horrendous .... a yellow mass that has carpeted the stone wall, granite counter and part of the kitchen patio in a matter of days .... s00k

I know we can wait and see .... but ....
