Urgh what is this?

I just went to water my hanging baskets and saw two big beetle type things on my geraniums! What are they? Are they doing damage? I have never seen these before. :cnfs:

Thanks Aesculus, yes that looks like the critters. They were enjoying the geranium and mating!!

I brushed them off into a container and deposited them on the field. I hope they cannot find their way back :D
