I too am struggling with my comp and also considering having it stripped back to factory sets, it takes me 1/2 an hour just to get up and running, I have put all my pics on disc and it still tells me i need to delete some programmes ,but how do you know what is safe to delete, its getting to the point where i can hardly be bothered switching on

Don't know if you've fixed the problem yet, Lollipop but I've built a 'recovery' DVD with some useful utilities such as a Virus scanner. It runs XP from the DVD rather than your (perhaps, infected) C drive and can therefore bypass any nasties that may be hiding there. I'd be quite happy to drop you a copy in the post. If you (or anyone else) would like it drop me a PM with your house number and postcode.

Obviously, I can't guarantee it will solve the problem but I've used it on many occasions to fix broken machines.

It's nice to have an operating system which doesn't suffer all these problems, the only trouble is it takes a bit more study to learn to use it. It's worth the trouble as the system and software is free.
