Hi, I am thinking of growing choiysa and jasmine up trellises on a paved area to cover a gate. Is this the right time to plant them? They will be put in clay pots, do I water from the top or use a saucer and put water in them? Is it best for all plants and flowers to be watered via a saucer? Thanks.

Not all plants in pots like to sit in a saucer, but when growing actively in the summer it's a good idea for your choices. Take the saucer away over winter and raise the pot so the roots don't freeze.
