What a dreadful situation, pip. Being a female, I can well imagine what was going through your daughter's mind. Thank goodness that policeman was there ... her Guardian Angel was watching over her for sure.

I think it's a positively disgusting state of affairs and would seriously consider filing a complaint against the operator in question.

Certainly will be looking into it, unfortunately I didn`t get the policemans name we would like to thank him properly and let his superiors know of his good deed.

Just heard on the radio that the accident I mentioned involved a young motorcyclist who tragically died. Our thoughts go out to his parents and family.

I think that, until trains are running, the station staff should keep an eye on the platforms and be in charge of the safety of the passengers.

Anyway: to be one of two waiting for the last train is often not that pleasant.

    Pip,

First of all thank goodness your girl got home safe. Secondly, I am so furious for you and like LOL has said you should consider pursuing how she was dealt with. She will have time records on her phone and I'm sure the policeman who helped her would be easily traced.

Thats terrible, but thank heavens she came home safe and sound.
I would buy her one of those personal alarms to carry.
I would also think about carrying a brick in my bag!
I would have thought most platforms had a speaker service, you press the button and talk to a station person who can watch you on cctv - but dont know if they all have this or not?

Have seen these systems on smaller totally unmanned stations, but as this station is manned until 8pm the relevant men in suits probably think it`s not cost effective to install one.

Thank you all for your concern, my daughter is still shaken and is looking to relocate to nearer home and learn to drive and we have started the complaints procedure.

Thank goodness it turned out ok Pip if you are ever in a desperate situation when you ring the police tell them you thought you saw the offender with a weapon and you thought it was a gun you will have an armed response team there in minutes.
