Hi its a type of aloe, I dont know which one though I grow vera so should like the same conditions.

Good multi compost with xtra grit added for good drainage.

I know some like full sun others dont ???

the one that has rotted take out of the soil and pull the leaves away from the bottom cut any dead or manky stuff off leave on the window sill to calous over (3 days) and then replant but dont over water or they will rot especialy over the winter practically keep them bone dry if you can

It looks like Aloe varigata, its basically a winter grower.

      So it can be difficult.

I find its best in shade, apart from during the winter when full sun is best.

A good gritty compost and only light watering all year round, depending on temperature.
Keep at a min of about 10C, but it will take lower if totally dry.
