    Hi,

A friend has brought me a pot plant but I don't know what it is or how best to care for it.

I think it might be a European Verigated Dogwood, but that's just a guess from seeing a picture of one.

Attached is a picture, any advice is much appreciated.

    Thank you. :-)

Looks the same to me. If it is, then you don't want to keep it on the windowsill. They don't like drafts and even with double glazing you get some downdrafts on the glass.

    Yes, its Ficus Benjamina.

You will have to re-pot it at some stage, I have one that's almost 6ft tall!

Being a fig, they like to be starved and I water mine when I remember it.
They like sun, but not draughts and don't like being moved from site to site. So if you find a good spot for it, leave it there and pretty much ignore the fact it exists. Mine gets sun for a couple of hours a day, when it decides to shine and stands by a radiator.

If the leaves start to turn yellow, that's when it needs water. :)

Pictures attached. The smaller one is my mothers which I grew and she accidently snapped the top off, so it has self-bonsai'd. :)

Oh, by the way, mine is not the variegated version.
