It's only since pulling some poorly annual salvia today that I discovered this pretty plant. No flowers just pleasant foliage. It is dark and I forgot to take a pic. We're expecting frost tonight hence the last minute post. 20251008_185913.jpg I must not have paid a huge sum for it because I don’t have any memory of it's name and there is no tag. It's probably something a rookie would know right off.

Think it might be an ornamental sweet potato.

I agree with @pete. But check underneath @CanadianLori - it might have produced a tuber!

Aha - thank you @pete and @CarolineL yes, I do happen to like what we call "potato vines" and usually buy some of the yellowy green ones to use as annual vines skirting my pots but didn't this year. I guess I saw this one and because of the size of it's leaves and their pretty colour I bought it to put in the garden.

I should have realized what it was but my brain went blank!

I'll dig up the tuber and/or take cuttings. Thanks again. :)

Certainly looks worth saving the tuber.

Absolutely right on. I dug up the tuber and have snipped off the trailing sections to root in water. The potted up plant/tubercis in isolation in the greenhouse toblet the mosquito bits kill off any soil gnats before it gets to come inside.

Its not a plant I have grown but I've been tempted to buy one on a few occasions.

it's ornamental sweet potato vine. Ornamental varieties are selectively bred for their foliage rather than their roots, so they don't produce any notable sweet potatoes.
