I am trying to encourage new greener grass to grow as garden is patchy and I have to cut & rake/scarify my lawn before feeding it.. ..how short should I cut it? I read somewhere that taller grass is healthier?

    cheers

Longer grass helps to stifle weeds and moss. Thus making the lawn healthier.:thumb::old:

Grass always looks greener befor it's cut as the tips of new grass are green. Frequent cutting promotes growth. At this time of the year "considered opinion" is to not cut it too short in case hot sun causes brown patches.
I'm presently cutting mine three times a week (weather permitting) but I use a Flymo so it doesn't cut very low.

Digessing, as Flymos don't do stripes and it's hard to attempt to keep lines "straight" I use mine like scythe, swinging it back and forth, which gives a nice even finish.

I had a neighbor, he moved out. He actually would take a ruler to his lawn and measure the inches of his grass. Now a new family lives there. He would have a major heart atach if he saw what they did not do to his glorious lawn.
