Hi, We have a lovely medium sized shrub in our border and would like to identify it so we could get another. It is woody and has confier type leaves which get little pink/white flowers on the tips about now. The flowers have five petals and the shrub is very fragrant when rubbed but could hazard a guess what it smells of but would guess some type of herb? Any suggestions as to what it may be are appreciated.

    Welcome to GC Stephen,
I am having a senior moment as, like Aesc, I can't recall the name,:dh: I think it is from Australian or New Zealand.
Someone else will come up with it.:)

Hello stephenward100 and welcome to GC!

Goodness, I have to join this 'senior moment' club also as I'm sure I know what it is .... :dh:

But, in the meantime I am going to move this to the ID section where more people may come along and also not idenitfy it .... I think I am capable of that .... :hehe:

I think I saw it in my herb book, which my dad is currently in position of, and I too can't remember what it is.

Just a wild guess as I have four different types, the low growing spreading ones, but could it be a Thyme of some sort?

It actually looks like Rosemary but the flowers on it grow up through the leaflets not just on the top.

Strange I'm going to say this, but I would say no as I actually have one of those, Pete .... and it's not aromatic. One of the most expensive plants I ever bought but it does look slightly, but only slightly similar.

Yep I think that's it although the one at ventnor botanics is slightly different it had a mixture of very very tiny pink, blue, and maybe yellow flowers? on it (might of been because of the rain washing out the pigments?) but it looked beautiful:luv::luv:

This is on my list of "pretty pretty pretty please may I have a cutting???":rotfl:
