    Good afternoon on my walk this morning I came across this small wood all these trees were in lines straight away I thought of Pines of some sort:smile:

            Any chance of a closeup of the leaves or cones @wiseowl ?
            They remind me of Larch but a closer look would confirm that.

              They'll not be japanese larch more like European larch ( Larix decidua ) or another pine of some sort . Need a picture of the leaves Woo

                    It seems to be a species of Pinus, from the shape of the needles. There are several that are grown commercially. I believe it is possible to identify the species from the number of needles that grow in the clusters.

                          I can understand the MOD being jumpy. Some of the awful forest fires in France recently were started deliberately.
