    Out here there are none of those hazards for swallows but this year I see only one around. Three years ago here they were numerous.

        In all the years we've been here we've never seen a Nuthatch in the garden. This morning, whilst filling up the bird feeders, we had one arrive :thumbsup:. I had filled the peanut feeder and was just hanging it back on the candelabra stand when a Nuthatch landed on it whilst I still have hold of it. I gently let go and slowly moved my hand away and then didn't move. So I was less than a foot from it whilst it was eating. :rolleyespink: It totally ignored me (must have been trained by Mrs Shiney :heehee:) and kept eating for about three minutes.

        Having never seen one close up I didn't realise how much they look like tiny woodpeckers - with different markings. Are they related?

                Sorry it's a bit fuzzy. I've been trying to take a picture of one of our Robins for ages and this is the best I can do. Really different from yours. Ours only chirp and have no "song". This one chased a grackle out of the bath earlier. 20200622_154146.jpg

                    Absolutely correct @Sheal . They actually line up for their bath. It is only a pot saucer but it holds 1.5 gallons and I have a little pump to keep the water circulating to discourage any mosquitoes wanting to duplicate there. I change the water every morning.

                    Other birds come to visit but none of them pose for me. Ingrates! :heehee:

                      It's a pretty bird. I don't think your Robins will be bothered what their bath looks like as long as it contains water. :biggrin: I have a large pot saucer too but it's not occurred to me to take a picture of it, I'll have to remedy that. :)

                        It appears to me that wood ducks appoint a nanny to take care of their young. There was one female with at least nine ducklings swimming with her and a number of other females at the far end of the marsh feeding.
