What's Buzzing or Flying near you today......2016

All the black birds of the Crow family are very similar @shiney, including the Rook. This can also be distinguished by it's beak type which looks as though it has been stuck on with putty.

@wiseowl your Redshank is the Common one if it was a Spotted it's bill (and legs) would be much longer and a very slight down turn at the tip.

Beautiful shot of the Hooded Crow @Sheal, the last time I saw any was in Cyprus and hope to see them again this Summer.

I stand corrected about the Redshank, I'm not very strong on sea bird identification although I should be considering where I live.

Thanks for the compliment. There are a good number of Hooded Crows here on the island and that one was sharing my picnic tea. I think he/she may have had youngsters somewhere as he flew off with the food and then returned for more.

Comparing his size to the Pheasants I would think he's a Raven, Shiney. Perhaps @strongylodon would be kind enough to pass judgement.

 

It's a Crow, it is sleeker than a Raven and has longer legs apart from the smaller bill size and rarely venture into gardens.

Possibly the worst picture ever posted on here but the cranes are flying over our house in their thousands SPRING has arrived! What a wonderful sound they make it makes my heart skip a beat!
