A lousy picture through my car window. I didn't dare get out as he/she would have taken flight.

Chiffchaffs at the sewage works. The heat from the filter beds provide a lot a of insects and up to 20 over winter there plus Goldcrests, Firecrests, Pied and Grey Wagtails.

Pigeon sat in the snow today, I need to take this tree down soon as its becoming rotten and dangerous shame really its a regular observation spot for a few birds.

@martin-f Can't you save as much as possible of the tree. We try to do that with our trees. This tree died about ten years ago. So I covered the trunk(s) with chicken wire and grew clematis up it. It's surprising how long trees can stand quite safely without being dangerous. Some of the smaller branches are beginning to fall off now. :noidea: So I remove them when I see the problem. We now get birds nesting in it.

Hi Shiney I cant save much of it I will take it down to hedge height there's a lot of weight near the top and things have already started falling off, last time I went up it on the ladders the whole tree was moving, it would kill anyone in its path if it fell.

@martin-f The same was done here to two birch tree's, they was so tall with bad winds they had used to rock but we have ours now shaped and it looks ok I think, it's just trimmed twice yearly.:)

It looks lovely Gail :dbgrtmb: I wish I could do something similar but the trees dead :frown:, next door neighbour poisoned it along with another big tree while the house was empty before we bought it, glad he did tbh the garden was like a small wood when we moved in, it took me months to dig the smaller trees out never mind this one.

I don't recall seeing geese migrate at this time of the year before ? sorry about the poor picture they was at distance and I only had my phone they was heading west from my location.

@zenj I see sparrow hawks quite often round here one was in the road the other day with a blackbird, I don't like to see it but its nature a very agile bird in flight.
