I still have cannas, asters. Astrantias. Blue salvias, dahlias, aconitum, echinaceas, acteas, agastaches, caryopteris varieties all in full flower. In Cornwall so this stuff usually flowers at this time but what is still looking good where you are? However, we lack the wonderful autumn colours that "up country" folks seem to be having now

I have Salvia hot lips, Rudbeckia, Perennial Sunflower, Canna, Fuchsias, Colchicums, Crocosmia, Blue perennial Lobelia, a Red Lobelia, Hosta, Heucheras & a perennial Pea....:), most are coming to an end though as autumn takes a secure grip on the garden. I'm also getting some wonderful leaf colour from some shrubs etc..:blue thumb:

Sounds good bilbo. Hot lips is hardy for me but it's an odd p.ant isn't it? It starts off red, then red n white and now it's mainly white. I had a variegated salvia once with red flowers, quite large flowers too, but I lost it. Even cuttings I took that did root, suddenly died on me. Never frown colchicums though. Got red lobela in my pool and a purple one that stil looks good. Never had success with sunflowers. You sound like a keen gardener, bilbo?

Hello Jenny. Just noticed there's another thread about flowers in October...oops! I need to be more observant. Yes loads colour at mo. I may post pic or two but I feel slightly pompous doing that. I usually grow good veg and friends were urging me to enter local show. I never do cos I domt like the competitive side of a hobby I enjoy...make sense? Im a pretty competitive person generally, maybe too competitive. Yes, forum is good and people seem nice

32 Years later and the passion still burns brightly and still so much to learn :dbgrtmb:

I've had the different colours on Salvia hotlips too, some at the same time!!
