Welcome to the new year weather watchers. May the new year bring us rain over the summer.

When I woke up at midnight from the firework, I saw frost on the cars. When I got up 4 hours later, the frost was gone.
2c currently and 6c over the day with a mix of clouds and sun after midday.

We have a snow/sleet warning for tomorrow morning and frosty nights with up to minus 5 over the weekend.
Uncertainty about night temperature next Tuesday. MetOffice says -2c, wetteronline says -7c.
That would be a record as long as I live in Wiltshire. We never had more than -6c as maximum.
The High seems to stay and no rain forecast in the next two weeks.

It's currently raining here - the drizzly sort. 5c to 7c is the order of the day. Yellow warning for possible snow & ice tomorrow though.

Similar conditions here @simone_in_wiltshire. Can't see any frost on the rooftops or grass. There was ice on the birdbaths but it was already loose and I could lift it straight off. There is some quite heavy looking cloud.

 

We wake to this new year with cloud, a light breeze and 11c, We expect welcome rain later today and a temp in the mid teens.

 

The water butts and bird bath are covered with layer of ice, but that comes from yesterday. The sky is a typical winter sky.

A warm 4c at the moment. And damp and drizzly. Waiting for the cold weather to arrive. We have our first 2026 weather warning for snow with full sun. Sounds good.

It was frosty at midnight (didn’t stop neighbours being outside for fireworks and cheerful chatter) but it had ‘warmed-up’ by this morning, and now the sun is shining.

 

Happy New Year
Cold and windy but no sign of snow yet, 4 degrees but feels more like minus 4 in the garden in the wind.

 

It is still dark but the guessers say we will see a little sunshine for a brief period today. It is now up to 6f -13c and my bird water dish which holds 1/2 liter is a solid block of ice. The snow on the greenhouse looks about 2 inches or so thick.

This is a good way to start the New Year by having the proper weather for this time of year
