    Intermiplants,
For the first year, after flowering cut back to the old growth, to encourage new growth the following year. Then after, just cut back to new growth, about a foot from the ground, again after flowering. I, never prune mine before growth appears in spring. Always after flowering in autumn, then a rose feed in spring, giving all summer flowering.

Hi, I have a few roses in pots in the garden that havn't been repotted for a few years and are suffering badly from spotted and yellowing leaves. Is it too late in mid October to repot them? I would like to give them a fresh start with new compost for the spring.I also intend to trim back old growth to minimise possibility of overwintering any disease. Good idea or not?
