Understandably you cannot cut conifers and other large shrubs etc back until the birds have finished nesting. When legally and practically is this date ? I leave my conifer hedge until early July .

Hi Harry early July is too early,
Hedge Law | The Law and Garden Hedges - The RSPB
We recommend cutting hedges and trees is avoided between March and August as this is the main breeding season for nesting birds.

Even early August is too early imho some birds that usually have two broods are having three.
