when to plant red/black currant

    is now the correct time to plant a red and black currant tree. a freind said they are selling them on the market so im going to get one of each [​IMG] i thought it must be the right time but seeing as though they sold winter socks in summer i wasnt sure [​IMG] is now the ideal time

    You may plant them now. If they are in pots then that is even better. If they are bare rooted then the sooner you get them in the better for the plants.

    Inter, the rule of planting anything is, if it is in a pot it can be planted at any time of year as long as the ground is not frozen or waterlogged. If the plant is bare-rooted it should only be sold, and therefore, planted, late Autumn to Winter, again, as long as the ground is not frozen or waterlogged. David.

    in my first year of growing black/red currant and bought them late summer what month should i see the first bit of growth as i heard they are early starters ;)
