Which runner bean?

Hi Ramorgan I use White Lady usually,I can usually pick them in October by planting a second crop in late June,I find that White Lady Runner beans stand the Heat much better and the birds don,t eat the white flowers as much as The red flowers on Scarlet Emperor.which I also use,as my early planting in May,This is only my personal preference as all Gardeners have their own choices and favourites,(Horses for courses so to speak)Hope this is of some help

 

Woo; do you sow the seed for White Lady in June straight into the soil or start them earlier in pots?

Hi JWK I must stress that this is the way that I have found to be the best way for me,I am a belt and braces Man ,so I always use both methods, Pots and straight into the ground,that is for all my Runner beans,main crop and Late crop,and if the Runner Beans in the ground turn out OK ,which usually they do for me,any surplus and I give them to the local schools or the local Children,they just love growing them,they usually bring me one Bean each :hehe: when they harvest them,sorry I diverse,and I am lucky to be able to always plant them North to south ,that way they get the Sun on both sidesBut as you know I have to be careful and not plant anything else to close as the runner Beans can cast a lot of Shade.Hope this is of some help to you.
