I have a small ( 12-14 feet high) maple tree. Approximately 2-3 weeks ago small white sticky dots (3-5 mm in diameter) started appearing on the trunk and branches. I am obviously concerned in case it is a fungal infection or bug infestation. This is the first time I have seen this since moving here 10 years ago. Also every year for the past 10 the leaves get a milky white mould on them during the autumn. This has not been detrimental to the trees annual growth. I live in North Yorkshire and the tree is at the southern end of a west facing garden and receives plenty of sun. Any advice would be gratefully received.
