Again, more lovely photographs, Pal. I saw some Guzmanias there, I think.

Pete ... note the beautiful blood-coloured Oxalis ... now THAT I would go for in a flash. [IMG]

Well, I'm still drooling over the bonsais ....

I like my yellow one LoL. :D

Its a very impressive place Pal, looks like a smaller version of Kew but with more emphasis on flowers and colour.
I'm going to have to go this summer now after seeing your pics.

What has happened to the old glasshouses?

Are they still open, or have they been closed down now?

It would be a shame to lose the old ones.

Hi folks. I went to Wisley maybe 10 years ago. I must say it was a fantastic day out and would recommend it to anyone who is considering going. May I also recommend Barnsdale, now THAT`S an inspirational place to visit. There are plenty of `gardens` and something for everyone`s taste. They have a memorial garden for Geoff which I sat in for a while(although unfinished at the time)and found the experience quite moving, there`s a bust of the great man himself. I would say it`s a `must` place to go, I plan to go again as soon as I can. Cheers...freddy.

Pete..the old glasshouses are no more!! The whole area has been cleared,a few of the smaller parts have been rebuilt in the fruit gardens and joined together to make extended houses..riveted at the joints I think.. ;)
    These are part of them

Oh thats a bit sad Pal, it would have been nice if they had held onto the old ones for growing on or maybe special exhibitions now and then.

I'm having trouble picturing it at the moment, I cant place what has gone on.

As we approached this display I commented that the stone looked familiar..
[IMG] It ought to,it was quarried about a mile away from me.

Hi Paladin. I seem to remember that small lake. Are there lots of carp ? As I remember, the fish used to come to the edge for feeding by the visitors, quite something to behold. Cheers...freddy.

[IMG] [IMG] Well Pal, a lovely set of photos to go with a fantastic day out.. What a place & so nice for you to go while it was quiet like that. Ben is getting a good start to his career. Good to see a youngster with some ambition.

[IMG] Recognising the stone is one thing, but for it to have been quarried just up the road from you is quite something...! Very much a family day out with that home from home feeling there then... ;) :D

;) Who knows... Maybe one day we will be watching Ben on gardners world on the telly. Could he be another "Geoff" in the making? ! [IMG]

    Thanks for sharing Pal.. [IMG]
