Yet another plant ID

This plant which I think may be Caryopteris has yellow leaves about 1-2" long, narrow, toothed, opposite . It is a small shrub at present and some leaves hung on in winter. It hasn't flowered yet. The thing that intrigues me is that it's leaves are strongly aromatic, with a strange menthol type smell.
It appeared in the park last Autumn. I have nicked a small bit and would like to propagate it . has anyone got Caryopteris, or have another idea, please?

 

I have the Caryopteris x clandonensis 'Heavenly Blue', Liz. I've never noticed a menthol type smell, but that doesn't mean it hasn't got one - I often don't notice the obvious....

Mine has narrow leaves, not yellow. It lost all of them during the winter, although it was a mild one. It flowers in the autumn, as I remember it.

This morning in Morrisons I found both varieties, and both had the aromatic smell. When I came to the reductions counter I found quite a respectable little yellow one for �£0.99- couldn't resist!
