    Hi Varallo as a general rule of thumb its best if left for approximately 6 months then spread over the ground at 3cm deep and then forked in.:)

    I have used winter tares and that grows quite well overwinter. Another one is winter rye and this year i tried forage pea, but the cold winter seems to have damaged it - the winter tares is OK...

    I used homebase stuff last year and got very mixed results from it; i also found a local supplier for compost so will be using them from now on - cheaper, free delivery and the compost is brilliant!
