While I was out there I tidied up the other side. I found a new home for the alliums. In the autumn I'll look for more aubrieta (or equivalent) to tidy up the front edge. Everything else I planted in there previously has taken really well.G.

Hi @Mike Allen thank you for your comments and advice. Much appreciated. My lawn is getting there slowly. This was an overgrown bog land 3 years ago so after a lot of work it’s green. It’s by no means perfect and full of clover and Daisy’s but it’s green and when mowed looks half decent....

Hi hoofy, I don't think it will be a problem, I'm sure the landscapers know what they are doing, but I'm a bit surprised they didn't cover it with polythene etc given the wet weather we were having, when I did mine a few months back the edges too got very wet but have dried rock solid.

I was under the impression it had to be part of the tap if the tap was outside? Maybe I got it wrong, but there is nothing stopping you connecting any old bit of hose to that tap.

Yes I hear you loud and clear. For now what I've decided to do is just go no-mow in 3 corner areas of the lawn. I'm just going to let it go a bit wild, see what springs up in it. In one of the bigger areas I'm keeping a path through the wild area which is mown.

I'd cover the whole sloping area with differently coloured Hebes. Interest all the year around. Don't grow too tall. Keep weeds completely suppressed. Leave the rocks there and the Hebes will hide them.

@Marley Farley the pots I am currently using for the head and body are 12.7 cm. The smaller pots being used for the arms and legs are 7.5 cm. They are all from Wilko's cheap plastic range.G.
