    I would second JWK Hetty. That's the way to go with your raised bed. The bit under your dining room window which is in the shade would be good for lettuce and Pak Choi. They both do perfectly well...

    Miscanthus zebrina-best time to cut down?

    Well I managed to get it done (and burned) just before it started raining. I was amazed at how much new growth was coming through already, so definitiely the right time to do it!
