may be cheaper in the long run to buy a good used one off ebay I recently bought a used Honda UMK431 off ebay for £145 ... a new similar one will cost close to £500

Hi Greg, if you pop into more upmarket garden centres, you will find numerous multi-tools available for sale, but they do concentrate on the "flimsier" tools, whereas you seem to be concentrating on the more sturdier tools which by design are one piece for a reason. I do hope my comments do not...

Straight shaft petrol versions can have steel brushcutter blades fitted to cut through brambles and scrub.

Ahem, not to upset the apple cart but I use them and find them to be excellent! Warm them in the sun for increased flexibility, lay them on top of the soil and chuck a spadeful of mud on top every so often to weight it down (or use pegs). It goes exactly where I want it (new hedging and plants)...

Found mine off ebay, 2nd hand. Its made by Lynx whioch I can neither find on internet or by word of mouth so was a bit of a punt but its an absolute workhorse!Try to find one near to you so you can go round and check it over before handing over cash.

I place all my containers in a shadey spot and use the son-in-law with nagging texts when away ! I have been looking at the Hozelock Aquapod system though with an electronic timer , it looks very neat. But if you can find a system on offer , as DaveW did at Lidl this would be hard to beat on price.

I think spreader mat would be a bit too thin. In asia they use jute/hessian on poly covered tressles with drip irrigation to grow baby lettuce etc. Potato sacking would be good bet and its biodegradable
