My knees are giving me bother. This has led me to doing a lot of research.

I never expected to learn that your bum muscles actually run all the way down to the knees, connecting on the outsides of the knees.

Weak bum muscles cause a serious misalignment of the upper leg, causing the knees caps to pull to one side instead of running smoothly in their tracks.

Tension in the lower back may not give symptoms in the back but may in fact cause phantom pain in the knees. Likewise knee faults can manifest as ankle pain instead of knee pain.

Tendons are made of collagen, a protein, which has the tensile strength of steel. A healthy Achilles tendon is strong enough to rip your foot right off without snapping.

Any more fascinating unexpected learned in unexpected circumstances ?

Baseball players experience hamstring injuries. Particularly pitchers because everything from their bum to their feet and balancing for the throw puts a great strain on this muscle group.

You don't see many old pitchers......

If I find any that work I will. All the ones I know actually do the lower back and hamstrings, usually because they are surprisingly difficult to do right. The body has a natural tendency to use the strongest muscle for the job, so because the lower back and hamstrings are often stronger than the butt, if we attempt a butt exercise, we unwittingly and subconsciously delegate most of the effort to the back and the legs. The only exercise I know that reliably isolates and works the bum is the simple butt clench, but I'm not drunk enough to film myself doing that one ;)

One of the things I learnt/was reminded of recently was the importance of stretching the Quadriceps and the hamstrings to help ease knee pain. If these are tight then they cause misalignment of the knee = pain as clueless mentioned earlier.

I know the feeling . I'm having problems with the adductor muscles (or in my case, the adductor flab :heehee:).

Well, you did ask! :heehee: Everything's a clue for a song. :)

This is the earliest known recording (1928) of the song. The song was adopted by the Industrial Workers of the World (known as Wobblies) in 1908 and became very popular during the Depression.
