      I wondered what happened there...

Today I've been in the shed clearing it out. I've filled the wheely bin and the shed looks the same and I'm utterly brass monkeys.

Hoping to plant the bulbs I got yesterday and give front garden its last tidy, but weather is not dry as promised.

Bought another bag of bark chippings yesterday and spread entire contents over new bed under Willow tree. Discovered a bag of Daff bulbs in utility room, so stuck them in a pot. Dragged bags of mixed rubbish together ready to load into car for trip to recycling centre. Started raining so gave up.

Too wet to do anything, still need to rake leaves and get bulbs in before the freezing temps next week

Weather not too bad here, dull but not cold or wet.

I've had a good morning pottering but not achieving much more than filling my garden waste bin. My builder's bag of fallen leaves is now sealed and hidden away at the bottom of the garden.

I started on my aspirations list.
                  20171203_131541.jpg
I removed the gate. I only did that because I wanted to bring the leaves from the path into the garden. The leaves were then randomly scattered over the garden. While I was there i cleaned back the edges of the pathway. If i'm going to have a nice garden I out to have a nice verge too.

Raked the last of the leaves today so hopefully, weather permitting, back to digging/finishing the new bed tomorrow. :)

Is that where you plan to have an arch?
From the angle of the photograph, an arch would lead the eye to that lovely tree in the background

Hi @"M" My preference was to take up the paving stones and plant a bush in the space but my wife didn't like that idea. I wanted to make a memorial to our cat who is buried in the space in the centre of the picture. I already had all the bits. I just needed to work out the planting. As I can't do that with the gateway open as it is, I'm going to have to rethink the whole thing.

The trees are in the field on the opposite side of the dyke. There is a significant height different between us and them. I'm not sure whether the view would be the same once the arch was up.

In essence I agree. The view from our house isn't bad. It is spoilt slightly (only slightly) by the bypass that runs close by. One day they will probably build houses opposite which will spoil everything. At the moment the field is designated as flood plain so until they change that we should be safe enough.

                              :snorky:

                              G.

The tree through the arch would make a good photo. Maybe that will win the photo comp one day :dbgrtmb:

Been out in the garden this afternoon, soil a bit wet after last night but workable.
Dug up the Hydrangea from the front garden and planted on the garage site behind, I wonder what colour it will be next year, its was sky blue fading to lilac.

Got the boxes of bulbs out, planted all 25 February gold daffs. Planted the rest of the crocus around some roses.

Potted up the rest of the hyacinths and Iris reticulata mix.

Tidy up the shade-ish border in the back garden and planted some anemone's, planted about 5 before I realised I was planting them upside down .

Planted some Allium Christophii near the front of the borders and give the rest to mum.

Decided I'll pot the rest of my alliums up ( gladitor - mount everest - christophii ) I tend to be digging bulbs up to plant another bulb particularly allium :gaah: can never have to many alliums :snorky:

Planted out the foxgloves - Pam's choice - Sutton's Apricot what were supposed to be for this year but they didn't get big enough in time.

Planted a couple of sweet rocket, and a lunaria chedglow I picked up from Harrogate spring show :) it got lovely black foliage with a vibrant purple flowers.

Went round to mum garden to plant more alliums - Globemaster - pinball wizard - rosenbachianum - Schubertii - Christophii, I bought pinball wizard for her kind of wish I kept them for myself . It was all going so well but for some stones stopping the bulb planter, she said the outside drain blocked :frown: had a look the smell was awful:hate-shocked: I said get me some rubber gloves, they weren't big enough and the filthly slime went into the gloves and branded my hand / arm with the smell :thud:. 20 washes and shower later I am as good as new :snorky:.
