@Jack Sparrow Unless I'm misunderstanding you, you seem to be saying that you want to sift that pile of soil in the back corner. From the photo it looks perfectly OK for putting straight on the garden.

Yesterday I decided to go out in the garden as weather was windy and chilly but dry. Walked down path and :rain:. Went to beach instead. Whilst there the clouds cleared and :hotsun::hapydancsmil:. Spent around hour and half working on bath pond, adding gravel ( washed it first ), a few rocks and a piece of wood for escape route. Also made a start on digging out the weeds surrounding pond , lots of them with deep, spreading root systems :phew:. Thought about Bat boxes and whether I should move whilst digging, which made time go quicker :snorky:

The wind has picked up again so, as soon as it's light enough, I'll go out and rearrange the bird feeders so they don't get wrecked again.

Spent a couple of hours or so shovelling gravel to add to the gravel garden garden makeover in back garden and digging weeds :phew:. Also raked through little bank of earth next to pond ( the contents of excavated hole ), added a top dressing of better quality soil and compost. Added more hay, some turf bits and half a carrier of fresh peelings, etc to the compost heap. Whilst I was around the back of the shed I looked at the plastic box I set up as a mini pond last year. I had kind of given up on it as the marginal plants died and it had become a bit of a stinky mess. It's been left there all winter with leaves and twigs falling into it, even a piece of birdy fatball, so I was very surprised to notice the water was very clear and there was no smell :dunno: .

@Kandy I replanted most of the Nerines :)

The wind has dropped today. so I shall go out, when I can find time, and put the feeders back together again and fix the new squirrel guard that arrived yesterday.

@luciusmaximus Glad that you replanted the Nerines and you should enjoy some flowers either this year or next year:blue thumb:

When we popped to the garden centre at the weekend I ended up buying another two packs of Nerine Bowdenii(sp) three bulbs in each pack so have now potted them up into large clay pots and once they start to grow I shall haopefully find some room for them in my sunny border:biggrin:

After a good three mile walk this morning we had our dinner, and then as it was nice and sunny I went back off down to the greenhouse and had a good sort out of bulbs that needed repotting into fresh compost and checked over my bluebell seedlings that’s I showed last year and am pleased to say they are growing well. This is the first time I have grown them from seed so pleased with them:biggrin:

Did some tidying up in the garden but as my foot was killing me came indoors to watch my farming programme and spotted one of the couples who had entered their apples in the Malvern Show was from a farm we had visited twice last year when we were staying in the Malverns and we bought some fruit juice for Mr Kandy, plums and lovely sausages which went down very nicely:snorky:

Weather windy, cold and grey, so apart from filling bird feeders several times nothing garden related done. I did look at pictures/instructions online of how to build a Toad Abode and a Bug Hotel from bricks and pieces of tile. Hopefully going to be building both very soon. I have already made a Toad/Frog cave from rubble and created another cave underneath the sink pond, but both are probably more for summer usage.

I ordered the Bat boxes last night from Rivercraft. A set of 3 for £37.99 with free p&p. I have bought hedgehog houses from them and they are good quality, sturdy construction.

The 50 Snowdrops in the green I bought online arrived late afternoon with my free gift of Phlox Paniculata :yay:. Need to get them all in the ground tomorrow.

Last night a combination of rain and bad light meant I had to leave my verge in a bit of a mess.

Admittedly, it doesn’t look that much better now. The willow screen isn’t 100% straight (or level) but it should be good enough to do its job. The soil is very wet an sticky at the moment so I don’t want to mess around with it any more than is necessary. Once the spring bulb have finished I will go back and (hopefully) level everything off.

                            :snorky:

I planted about 220 Tete a Tete Daffs in the area between the Observatory and the West fence this afternoon.

. I'd already planted about the same number in the same area last year, and the year before that, so I'm hoping for a nice show this year.:hapydancsmil::snorky:
