This is my free Fuchsia that I rescued from an overgrown garden last year. It was hidden under brambles and grasses and had then been dug up and left on a pile for a week. It looked very sorry for itself but I thought I would stick it in a pot and see if it would recover. No idea which Fuchsia it is.

Hello, my name is Ezzie and I am a fuchsiaholic! :)

I have lurked here for many a month and have finally plucked up courage to join and ask for some advice. Some scene setting. On a biennial basis, I help to run a plant stall for charity as part of the Open Gardens programme. My contributions, amongst other things, for this year’s event are some hardy fuchsias. I am currently nurturing about 60 hardy fuchsia cuttings (about 12 different types) taken at the end of last summer, either to use as Mother plants or for sale as more advanced plants.

Two years ago, we had a lot of requests for Lady Boothby. Now as I have a specimen of this fuchsia thug, ooops, pseudo-climber in my garden it was easy to do cuttings. However, it occurs to me that I don’t really know how to treat a Lady B cutting! Do I stop off as I would any normal hardy fuchsia cutting? Let it grow a bit taller? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. If it is important information, the plant sale will be in June. Thanks.

I think @KFF would be someone who could answer your questions, he's a regular poster so you shouldn't have to wait too long and I think he has one or two :heehee:

We have another member @shiney who opens up his own garden for charity every year and his wife takes hundreds of cuttings of just about everything! She's a mine of information. He's got internet issues at the moment but is normally a prolific poster and I'm sure, when he can, he'll offer some advice too.

In the meantime, do have a good nosey around and even try the search function on here and you may even find the answer already exists? :dunno:

Thank you everybody for your very warm welcome. Having read the Fuschias 2017 and 2016 threads whilst lurking, I knew I would find a knowledgeable bunch of like minded folk with a goodly amount of humour thrown in as a bonus.

@KFF , thank you very much for your words of wisdom. It is much appreciated and the news that Lady Boothby is no different to any other cutting is reassuring. You are right, I have already got some ‘grandchildren’ cuttings on the go. The longer days are really beginning to have an effect and they are becoming well established. Might have to stop taking them at some point as the plant sale is 160 miles away and transport may become a little tricky but I just can’t resist at the moment! :snorky:
