I have a struggle trying to eat three Weetabix so 450 boxes of cereal a day would be even more difficult. :yikes:

Breaking news, Ben & Jerry's are going to introduce a new range of ice creams, 'glyphosate free'.

I am inclined to think there are so many common factors in life. One perhaps being. Do we bother to read the instructions. This applies in several aspects. "Know it all" sets about assembling some flat packed furniture. Instructions....bah! That's another job done....never mind the bits I've got left over.

Hit and miss in the medical field. Doc says. "Try this for a couple of weeks2 "Try this"!!!!

Some years ago, I had duodenal ulcers. Tagamet was prescribed at one stage. Tagamet was known to encourage stomach cancer. GP says. We'll concentrate on the ulcers first and then treat whatever. Really filled me with confidance.

Back to Glysophate. It neutralises when it comes into contact with the soil, that's why it can be sprayed onto crops/weeds and the soil resown immediately. It is not neutralized in contact with the crops.

Ha ha Mike....."read the instructions"?? I do now for flat pack assembly and the like. You are right.....Often had a spare bolt or other left over so learned the hard way :mute:
However, it is quite scary when I see some folk mixing garden sprays ....often carelessly and over strong

I'm not surprised. It really worries me that cereal crops are sprayed with glyphosate just a few weeks before harvest. I know from almost first hand experience that the so call agronomists employed by the spray companies recommend this and build it into the so called 'crop protection' regime. Some of them will even drink the stuff to "prove" it is harmless as they say.:noidea::gaah::nonofinger:Sheesssh. Most bread tests positive for glyphosate these days. I really do hope the EU bans it.

I just think it should be banned for certain uses.
Spaying edible crops should be banned.

But I dont see why it should be banned for killing weeds.

We already have pesticides that are stated for edible plants and ornamental plants, so I cant see why the same cannot apply for weedkillers, in fact I do agree that no weedkillers should be applied to edible crops.

I never knew it was used to accelerate crop ripening! Well it seems pretty simple to see how it ends up in the food chain then as its a direct additive. I can see this being banned as a weedkiller but permitted as a crop ripening accelerant - always bottom about faced!!

What ususually happens is the EU will propose banning us amateur gardeners from using it to carefully kill bindweed, but allow farmers to continue using 1,000s of tons of the stuff on food crops (because they're trained professionals).
