A professional wouldn't go out with a sprayer that was leaking, like this one that past me one day :mute:

I live in the countryside surrounded by farmland and therefore farmers. I was somewhat taken aback when I asked my neighbouring farmer what the ph of the soil was around these parts when I first moved here and he said he didn't have a clue yet every spring he doses the grazing fields with god knows all what:rolleyespink:. It is mostly sheep and barley grown around where I live. Be under no illusion the husbandry/treatment of the sheep in these parts anyway, bares absolutely no resemblance to the "one man and his dog" programme. I thought the language plus volume of same heard on the rugby field was unbeatable...wrong. If I have visitors and "Kenny" happens to be seeing to his sheep I always have to apologise/warn them to be prepared for a diatribe of profanities:yikes::yikes::yikes::).

Once you have eliminated all the foods and drinks [1] that contain glyphosate there will only be a further 299 permitted pesticides remaining in it.

[1] You probably also need to stop using tap water.

Our water is filtered - how well, I'm not sure. :noidea:. Done with charcoal and resin. :)

Ours isn't filtered at all. Just good old Adam's Ale which I am told is naturally filtered through some rocks:scratch: but this maybe incorrect. We certainly have had the odd frog/tadpole in the header tank :noidea:plus a wee bit of grit if there has been heavy rain but that said I absolutely love our water and detest mains stuff as I can smell/taste the chemicals in it. The last time I was in London I couldn't bare the water and drank bottled. No doubt our water doesn't meet EU standards but we have lived here for 17 years and never has a minutes bother with it. Indeed the supply is brilliant, as we started to get a bit concerned if the supply would keep going during the drought but all was well and the supply kept coming. Save a good doze of cash too with paying no water or sewage rates. If I ever move from here, our water will be high on the list of things that I would miss.
We take our chances with our water:). We could get it filtered by some sort of modern system but won't bother.

Then there's the chemical that are used by licence people to kill bugs in the stored grains and other food, which some of them chemicals are nasty, as some people had a very concentrated dose not that long ago

The water authority don't filter it, they just over chlorinate it! I fitted the filters and replace them every six months.

That reminds me of the water we had from our 1000 gallon tank in the Australian bush back in the 1960`s. It was scarce, but the quality of the plain old rainwater was fantastic.
We could all survive on rainwater in this country with an ozzie style tank.

On holiday a few years back my wife heard a truck and went outside to see what it was, just at that moment it blasted the trees with mosquito repellent including my wife, she then went to the swimming pool on her bicycle half mile away. I went a couple of hours later to meet her. She was was sat in a corner ill and could hardly move, it took all our efforts to get her back home and she was bedridden for 2 days.
I cant prove it but damned sure it was the repellent that caused it.

I'm as suspicious and critical of glyphosate as anyone and I don't now use any chemicals for killing weeds, insects, or plant diseases in the garden but that link, Wee Tam, is to a very strong Environmental organisation. I'd rather take a balanced, neutral, opinion of Glyphosate from an organisation that doesn't have an agenda either environmentally, politically, or commercially. I don't like chemicals for weed killing and that includes glyphosate and the way it is used globally for agriculture. I also cringe when I read some of the concoctions that gardeners used on plants in "the good old days" of Big House estates as they did shorten the life of those using them:hate-shocked:, but at least they weren't being used on the scale that chemicals are today.:dunno::coffee:

If world food production could (has?) become so reliant on a single chemical, that if (when?) it became conclusively identified as an unacceptable danger to health, and banning it with immediate effect would cause global food shortages, farms going out of business (crops destroyed, contaminated agricultural land being taken out of production for years, no safe alternatives) agrichemical producers going bust, lawsuits for many, many billions globally, food producers/wholesalers/supermarkets/shops having to clear their shelves and warehouses of contaminated stock, etc., what would governments do?
