We called into a couple of Wyevales yesterday armed with a bundle of Gardening Club cards and a load of these printed vouchers (will edit and post pics and link from laptop in a few minutes) and got these Cyclamen for nothing (my favourite price) and 120L of bark chips (hen run needed topping up) for £4. A bit busy to repeat today, but going back tomorrow for another £30's worth of freebies, such as free full price seeds, and some free MPC, etc.

Voucher link (NB these are not account specific)
    http://email.gardeningclubmail.co.u...018-10-11-bark-foliage-stems/5off-voucher.pdf.

N.B. Has to be done in multiple purchases of around £5 to get the most out of them

I would like some early flowering orange tulips. I have some white pheasant eye daffodils to contrast them with. If anybody knows if I can get any cheaply please let me know where. As i started a new job recently, for the time being, my gardening budget is £0.

Hi jack, you need late flowering Tulips to go with those as Pheasants Eyes don't flower until May.

A bit of searching showed me that Dobbies sell Ballerina bulbs - 7 for £3.99. The above link from eBay- 20 for £9.95 works out at roughly the same. It will be just as easy to call into Dobbies next time I'm passing. I'll get 20% off too. I've got tulips all over the place already. Why buy a whole load more. I can buy 7 tulips to go with the 7 daffodils I already have. That will do me just nicely.

Got what might be my final bargain of the year when it comes to the garden today. I was talking about my plans to grow veg next year with a guy at the football a few weeks ago and he recommended heading to the local fishing tackle shop to pick up some worm casting compost.

Looked at their website and it should have been £9 for a 40 litre bag, bit pricey but the idea is that you add it to some cheap and cheerful multipurpose stuff so I figured I'd get a fair bit of use out of 40 litres. Headed down there today with a tenner in my pocket and got one bag for £4 and they chucked in another, that somebody had caught the edge of when reversing and split slightly. I don't know about you, but I'm more than happy to clear up the odd bit of dirt out of the boot for a freebie like that.

How many years do you have to keep the compost in there before it's ready? :heehee:

                    Todays arrivals :

Nolina Hibernica and Nolina Lindheimeriana. They don't look much yet but they will make great plants. Just need to find a place to put them

Well, I'd like a penny for every time the old compost heap was emptied over the 40 years and raised the levels of my borders somewhat.:dunno::heehee: According to the RHS and the blurb from the manufacturers of the plastic compost bins it could take from 5 months to 2 years but, in my old compost heap depending on the time of year it would time around 3 months. But at least the plastic composters will look posher and more organised than my old compost heap:dunno::heehee:

It seems like all the gardening 'YouTubers' I watch swear by these heavy duty pots, when it comes to growing spuds. So I ordered myself 4 (just over £16 with delivery) to get us started and they came this morning.

Kudos to the supplier I bought them from, who didn't bother wasting time (or cardboard) putting them in any packaging and instead tied them together with a couple of cable ties around the handles. Wish more companies used similar common sense.

I've just gone completely mad. I have bought 2 tickets to see Katherine Jenkins next May. I heard her talking about it this afternoon on Radio 2. I won't tell my wife until nearer the time. I like to keep a few surprises up my sleeve. I just hope that I haven't left my bank balance too low to cope before my next wage goes in. Oh well. He who dares wins.
