Your right about it feeling like Spring. Blue sky and got a bit of a sweat up in the garden. Snowing next week then......."snow dig"

Beautiful spring like day yesterday, sunny, calm and quite warm when not in shade. Had two hours in garden but twenty minutes or so were spent sitting on caravan steps with coffee and biscuits watching the sun starting to go down over the sea and listening to the birds. I finished digging out the flower bed under the cherry tree and added several barrows of soil, compost and well rotted manure mixed together. It's almost twice it's original size, so I should be able to fit most of my plants in pots into it. I carefully removed a few Tete a Tete daffs from a couple of pots and a Geranium and planted them. There are plants already around the cherry tree so I need to have a look at them and maybe move some around.

Had a look at the pond and surrounding area. I'm liking the idea of using the bog garden to create new pond. It makes sense as there is already a hole and I would just need to dig around the hole to make the shallower areas. Once I've finished with the planting under the cherry tree I think this will be the next project.

We've now got two of these areas in the veggie plot dug and composted with the compost dug in. They'll gradually settle lower over the next few weeks :fingers crossed:

We were closely watch by the local neighbourhood watch!
          P1410401.JPG

I've been gradually tidying up some of the nursery areas, removing dead leaves from them from the willow and other trees (now filled five wheelie bins), dumping dead plants etc. and tidying up pots.

And have got these pots ready for potting up Iris sibirica when we have managed to dig them out of the ground.

Digging them out is too much for me but I'll get Lewis to do it next time he turns up. He's also got to dig up a load of crocosmia. I don't know whether to bother to pot those up or dump them

            Rrrrrrrrabit Shiney
Prob nothing doing today in the garden but I have sown seed in odd bare patches in front lawn following scarifying and raking a few weeks ago. Tomorrow I will top dress the lawn with sieved compost.
A beautiful spring day and increasingly warmer week to come so ideal for working on the lawn:)

Hi Woo. It was a Pink Perpetue Climber - bare root cheapo type. It's for my mums back garden up in Lincoln. The ground is quite heavy clay but I've been digging in a bit of muck and some DA rose food pellets and got it in the ground yesterday. It's a south facing back garden so that should be good for it.

This is where I've planted it...next to the half size fence which has a full size wire fence - I thought that would be perfect for the rose to grow around and along...plenty of airflow!

Have you grown this variety before?

Had a little tidy up in mums back garden today. We removed a 60 yr old rotten shed before christmas and have ordered an easy maintenance keter one to go in it's place. We're just waiting for a warm dry weekend to put it together. Anyway, today I've cleared all the debris - shards of wood, broken plastic, stones, snails etc etc. Decided I'm going to dig more soil out the edges (it's thick clay) and put more strong weed membrane down and finish off with the stones we've used in the borders (it's all had to be easy maintenance for my mum who has a bad back.)
