Today’s starting point...lots of digging to be done. Hoping that by posting this before photo it will make me get the job done today so I can post the after photo. Motivation needed as still aching from yesterday lol

I get the aching bit. Had a good two days of gardening this weekend and could really feel it the following day or so. I need to get garden fit again

I’ve just come in for a rest/lunch. I’ve managed to fork it in and pull put loads more roots and stones. Just got my mini rotorvator on it and my arms now feel like theyre going to fall off lol

Just been out with the dogs for a lunchtime break and its a lovely day. I wish I could stay out there longer but work beckons.

Polytunnel has been to 32 degrees so Ive fully opened a door at each end to cool it down. Cant believe I'm saying that in Feb

Not long back and took the opportunity to plant out pots of flowering blue anemone blanda that I potted (Corms) in autumn. Planted out previously divided pulmonarias and primroses...again, in flower. Pruned cornus Alba aurea and elegantissima.....left a couple for a week or two to set off white hellebores
Earlier I cut niece’s and my own grass too.
Such a glorious day for spending outside:SUNsmile:

Well as expected I’m shattered and hungry-can’t wait for my roast shoulder of lamb to finish in the oven! Mmmmm!

Got the majority of the hedging done...will do round the corner tomorrow.

Thank you. Although I’m aching I’ve enjoyed doing it. Very satisfying seeing it nice and neat.

The hedging are portuguese laurel. Id have liked the griselina but didn’t want to risk them dieing if we have a beast from the east again.

Bought the white climbing rose from B&M yesterday. No time for gardening other than a wander around. Maybe this afternoon.

I did a lot of clearing in flower beds yesterday and digging out runners of dogwood. some were too tough for me to dig so Lewis will have to do those - he does all our heavy work. He's got a big patch of ivy to get out as well.

I cut down an 8ft diameter patch of Inula and cleared the undergrowth, cut back a load of ice plants and then had to carefully weed and remove lots of moss from amongst a 10ft diameter lily bed. One of my problems is that I have big feet and it's difficult working in the beds without damaging some plants

Planted the last five hedging plants and I’m even more exhausted. I dug out a few hellebores and another perennial that’s not started growing yet. I wish it was just a case of digging and planting but the whole need to rotorvate, remove debirs and level has made it a long task.

                                D882320A-F743-4A85-85D8-0656DB75BCB2.jpeg

Last part to do is clearing the wall infront of the cars where i’m experimenting by doing my own espalier/pleachedoortuguese laurel. The nursery picked me out some good ones to use for that. The only thing now is that a little jenny wren seems to have made her home in the jasmine which I’ll have to dig out. I thought I could train the laurels whilst theyre still in pots whilst I wait for jenny wren to finish her nesting etc and move on.hmmm
