Spiral wrap them around the obelisk rather than simply training them straight up. Dropping the lot right down to the ground, wrapping around the base, then spiraling up from there would enable even longer stems.

Well looks like you have your answer there @Freddy.. I do reduce the tendrils when they are growing as well because they get caught around bloom stems and kink them.. Mine are coming to an end now and I am only getting very short stems now but I have picked bunch after bunch this year from an early time due to them growing in the tunnel..I am going to sow the seed straight into the ground in there this autumn /winter and see if they are even better next year in there..

I think you might need a bigger obelisk if you want to grow sweet peas up it.

Personally, I'd go for an enormous bamboo cane structure.

Freddy be careful when routing SPs, they are very fragile. When mine reach the top of a 7 foot fence I do prune them back a little. This is just to keep them tidy.

              LISA MARIE PRESLEY...
I saw the sweet pea named after her at a friend's house a couple of days ago. Dark plum and cream.

I have searched Google and can find no reference to it at all. It's a superb specimen and I would love to grow it next year.
Can any one help me please?
              Jenny

Cutting around 120 blooms every other day, and that's with part of my strucure set aside seed saving (but I still cut a few of the very best ones). It's a PITA keeping them moist at a plot with no water supply, but if neglected they would only be runts unsuitable for cutting.

Hope swarms of tiny black beetles don't turn up and smother them, like they often do around this time of year in hot, dry weather.

They were spread around the house, but I assembled them for a group photo

Chatsworth, bought from T&M when really cheap on offer [1], then grown from even cheaper saved seeds ever since.

[1] Think I bought a few packets when various seeds were on offer at 49p/pkt, buy 4 get 1 free and a free P&P promotion.
