Was a heavy rain the culprit, Ian, or is there a stream or river nearby that flooded??? I'm really glad to see that the House didn't flood, has it happened before.??

It was the amount of rain, but we have a drainage culvert on our estate that is designed to remove large amounts of rain water, but it was blocked with fly tipping material. It has happened before and again the culvert was blocked. Also a small river burst it's banks. At least we are at home not like the people in Whalley Bridge, they notified residents in the village of Marple that if the dam burst it could flood the outskirts of Stockport.

Yes, I know Cheadle Hulme quite well, and I drive quite often through Whaley Bridge, Chapel en le Frith to get to Buxton and Baslow. I know they were also worried about the Poynton area too.
Really glad you had no damage to the House!!!

Hi @Ian Taylor - yes I was worried for you all there too. I used to live in Bramhall (the non-posh end) and heard that it was flooded too. I used to work in Cheadle Heath...

Then watch out for the forecast high winds and heavy rain on Friday and the weekend, Ian.
