‘Weird’ Mexican Sunflowers

So someone said came to my house today and said my Mexican sunflowers look ‘weird’... I’ve never grown them before and a fairly new gardener - do they look ‘normal’?? Haha!

They haven’t flowered yet obviously but they said it looks like too many are growing from one stem??

Maybe this person is just even more clueless then me I don’t know ))

Looks kind of Borage like to me.

 

Ha! Does look like a Borage! So they must have sent me the wrong seeds! Typical haha

Cut newly opened flowers, freeze them in ice cubes and serve the most stunning drinks of the summer. Borage is great!

Borage is a great plant, and much loved by bees and hoverflies. So you’ve swapped a pretty orange flower for a pretty, bee-friendly blue flower.

Just one little warning, though. The hairs on the borage leaves can irritate a little, especially if you have sensitive skin. So careful when you pick your flowers for the ice-cubes. If the plant is in a pot and next to a path, you might want to move it back a little.
