Glad it took, Caroline! The sage(s) are doing wonderfully well. Now got three clumps flowering their socks off

It's a gorgeous oleander @noisette47! One of the other cuttings is in bud too. And the peonies from your 'rockii' seed are making good progress. Many thanks.

Goodness! It's testimony to your good plantswomanship that you coaxed some life from the paeony seed! I've PM'd you my e-mail address. If ever you want cuttings of a very pale yellow oleander, Erythrina bidwillii, Eriobotris, Capparis, hardy Gardenia, pink Sericofera and Trachelospermum, or anything else vaguely tender, just drop me a line :)

Thanks @longk , I''ve looked at Kirengoshima before in Haylofts catalogue as they're supposed to like shade and I''ve got a shady little triangle where two fence panels meet at an angle.

After miserable apple crops for several years, this year has been quite productive, not only our trees, but the local 'wild' ones, those in nearby planting schemes and some amongst the native trees in a new local woodland. With a bit of luck I might press 50 galls of juice this year, plus all we can eat, make pies with, etc. They also appear to be weeks earlier than usual.
