@alana Any secrets on how you got your Crinum to bloom? I have had my for six years but no blooms and I have tried sun ad shade. Any help appreciated. I got them fresh from Florida via Germany.

 

@Victoria - I was surprised to get such a late bloom from my crinum. I had lots of flowers during the summer and thought that was it. Last autumn I dug up them up from the bed and put them in containers. Some of the bulbs got damaged when I moved them but I planted them anyway and I've been pleased with the results.
The original bulb came from one of the members on this forum about 10 years ago and I planted it in a container. It didn't flower for two years but then it took off, quickly outgrew the container and went in the ground. Now the bulbs are back in containers No particular care given to them. I guess patience is the key.

 

My Crinum didn't flower this year but it did last year for the first time, I did threaten it last year so it did as it were told, this year I forgot so no flowers . The pot too small on mine so I think I put it in the garden next year . RHS website says intolerable to water logging yet I saw one on the TV ( think carol klein garden visits ) one were growing in a pond , they not called swamp lilies for nothing. Maybe lack of water Vicotira + a good baking

 

Its nearly all over with this year , The rudbeckia flowered non stop since july

Yes it does @CarolineL It's a beaut. I've bought two more over the last couple of years because they are so nice.

 

Mine has about 10 berries on it!!!!! but it is under a Box Elder.

 

@strongylodon mine is in full sun all the time but gets a real good watering all through the summer. It can wilt easily if too dry. If you don’t water them enough you won’t get such a good amount of berries

 

I like Callicarpa, are they hardy please @Snorky85?

 

Mostly leaf colour now...Acer ginnala 'Flame' has been lovely this year...

Sumach... Pecan...
And Hedychiums (at last!)

 

@Sheal yes, the Callicarpa is a full hardy. Deciduous obviously, but the berries seem to stay for a long time-they seem like the last berry the birds go for. The varieties I have are all called “Profusion”.
