Early Autumn has arrived and the leaves are falling. We now have a month or two of leaf clearing to go :phew:

Should have taken these in the sunshine but was out most of the day

There's still some colour in the garden but not much apart from foliage

          P1440635.JPG

This callicarpa also does well in a shady area
          P1440636.JPG

Cobaea is, surprisingly, still surviving the frost

The passionflower is still going but I don't know how much longer
          P1440660.JPG

There must be over a hundred buds still on it but they're struggling to open

The Liriopes have done well this season and we have been splitting them and potting them up for sale. They're going out as fast as we can do them.

@Snorky85 I don't know how many of the Liriopes have already been promised. Mrs Shiney has a list of orders. As they flower at this time of year, and are still able to be split, they seem to be going as quickly as she's doing them. I'll check with her whether we can keep one aside for you.

The Cobaea (cup and saucer plant) is only an annual and you can buy seeds. They're a climber and flower from latish summer through Autumn.

Ooh I didn’t realise mrs shiney did them to order! @shiney don’t worry I’m sure I can buy some from a nursery or online if it is any trouble. I thought they’d tie in nicely with the callicarpa. And i’ll get the cobaea next year (or sow the seed) i had no luck with my self sown spanish flag annual this year so not that hopeful for sowing my own.

Hi @shiney , the Cobaea are perennial. They only need a mulch ( or if in pots put them in a sheltered place ) and they'll come back bigger and stronger every year.

                      Thanks @KFF :blue thumb:

Although listed as a perennial they certainly don't survive in our garden even when planted in a sheltered spot :noidea: We have even tried them alongside a West facing fence in amongst perennial grasses but as they aren't cold tolerant much below 35F, even with a mulch, it's better to consider them annuals in this country. They could be grown in pots but do not achieve the vigorous growth that planting them in the ground does. They're ideal for growing on trellis and our plants can quite easily grow 8ft in the season. Before our newer long bed had developed properly we planted three of them along the wooden fence, on plastic trellis, and they covered over 30ft of fence.

                      P1350999.JPG

As they are so vigorous we don't bother to try and protect them - there's much too much to do in our garden and the plants have to fend for themselves. :dunno: :)

I can't let mine grow that big as my next door neighbour doesn't like plants over hanging the wall separating us.
He used to ask if he can cut it and then he'd cut it totally level with the wall.

My next door neighbours would be offended if I cut back the Roses and Shrubs that overlap our fences as, one neighbour put it, she gets a free garden and over 15' of scented flowering climbing roses which her visitors think are hers!!:heehee:
