    Hi,
I bought some supposedly Curry leaf plant seeds from China on Ebay, out of 25 seeds about 5 have sprouted, but the leaves have no taste at all.
Now i have read reviews on Amazon by people who claim its a scam and these seeds are
not of the Curry leaf plant.
I have posted some pictures of the plant that i have managed to grow from the seeds, can someone identify what the plant is and weather its worth keeping or is it just a weed that i am nurturing.

    Hi,

When you google Curry Leaf plant images, cannot see any that look as round of your leaves, though suppose there will be world wide variations ....?

Also, could it be that there is no taste because the plant is so young, from what they say, the flavour comes from oils, which might not be present until more mature ..?

Know nothing about the curry plant, but that looks like Robinia pseudoacacia to me.

I think the genuine 'curry plant' is Murraya koenigii? Even allowing for a juvenile state, your photos don't look anything like it. The leaflets are longer, narrower and shiny, as well as being very aromatic.

I believe there is a kind of Helichrysum which is also called the curry plant.
          Common names cause confusion.

Could even be a common type of Cassia, looks like a leguminous plant.

Hi @mint well you have just reminded me mine is still outside! I don’t think your leaves are right for a curry plant. This is mine albeit it suffering from cold. It grows as a tree from a single central stem..I bought it as a very small plant a few years ago from a nurseryman. The leaves are pointy, not rounded like yours.

I wonder if yours is a Round leaf Cassia:scratch: Factsheet - Round-leaf cassia

                  Hi,
Thank you for reply, i will keep them until the end of next summer to see if the leaves
change shape or develop a smell, otherwise they are destined for the compost heap.

                  Thank you for you reply.

Yes i think i have been conned, it was less than two pounds so no great loss, but these have no smell at all, so i will put this one down to experience.

                  Hi,
A local Indian supermarket sells small bags of freshly cut curry leaf twigs for use in cooking.
I might use that as a cutting and see how i get on.
                  Thank you.
