    I've just placed my order. No idea what the Costus actually is but sounds interesting. I'll try it as a houseplant, many "conservatory" plants seem to be just fine as houseplants when grown from seed. And if it fails, well... I have paid more for a glass of plonk.

    Where's the postman???! :dancy:

    Product Name Quantity Price
    Costus dinklagei £ 2.75
    Browningia hertlingiana £ 2.98
    'British Basil' £ 1.95
    Dill, 'Diana' £ 1.85
    Tree Basil £ 1.90
    Cucamelon £ 1.95
    Onion, Pickling, 'Paris Silverskin' £ 1.70
    Sub Total: 7 Items £ 15.08

      Just ordered my sweet peas - only two packets this year, and one of sunflowers. I'd normally be getting far more but we're *hopefully* buying a house in the next few months so I don't really know what garden/space I'll be growing for yet :rolleyespink: It's exciting in theory but I'm already feeling a bit bereft looking at the empty propagators...

        Exciting times and I'd imagine that you'll be plenty busy enough with the new house without looking after seedlings. Good luck with the purchase !

          Just got my Chilterns Seeds catalogue through the post this afternoon.

          I’ve got £27 in my basket for my on-line order. When I started, I only wanted some more Hungarian Black chilli seeds!! Oops....

            I think you need to look through the catalogue again. Youre clearly not trying hard enough. You should be well over £30 for the order :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

              Hehehe!
              Let hubby have a look at the veg seed catalogue, and he’s asked for 4 more chilli varieties (demon red, etna, pikito and vampire to add to my ember explosive and Hungarian black). We already have seeds for Anaheim, jalapeño, cayenne, patio sizzle, Krakatoa, Hungarian hot wax, Lombardo and red cherry. It’s going to be a hot summer!!

              Thats some chilli selection !

              I'm only growing two this year. One that I harvested the seed on last years holiday - much to my wifes disgust as it was a fresh chilli that they serve with a lot of meals and I was in the restaurant. I think its jalepeno - if it isnt, its closely related. I'm growing Anaheim too - fist time growing it for me.

              I'm intentionally growing less varieties so that I can grow my aubergine and cucumber up a frame. Last year that area was overtaken by tomatoes and chillies

                I like Anaheim. It’s quite fleshy, and has lots of flavour, whilst not being too hot. So a useful chilli for salsas as well as cooking. It also is relatively early to flower, and crops well too.

                  Hello!

                  I haven't bought any seeds yet, but I have chosen my order of 6 sets of seeds from the heritage seed library, which I'm excited to try this year:

                  * Giant Improved Flak - Carrot
                  * Canadian - French Bean
                  * Sheepnose - Pepper
                  * Crimson Giant - Radish
                  * Born Mangetout - Pea
                  * Ostgotaart - Pea

                  I want to order some basil from somewhere though, and get that started :)

                    Hi @KMoMia1982 and welcome! I recommend Franchi seeds (SeedsofItaly website) for basil. They do packets of mixed basil seed that include loads of different ones eg thai basil as well as more usual ones. I put a whole load in a single pot and was picking them all last summer

                      Basil grows so rapidly that I won't be sowing seed until mid April.

                      I start mine now as we use a lot of the stuff and need a rota system :heehee:. This potful is for early windowsill use, and later on I will sow some more to put out when it warms up. This year I'm trying British Basil .
