Seed catalogues

This could have been tacked on to the old 'Seed Catalogues and Mental Health' thread, really Is it just me, or does anyone else find the layout of the major seed suppliers' catalogues utterly unuseable? They all (apart from Chiltern Seeds) seem to have gone over to lumping flower seeds into 'categories' instead of listing them alpabetically, or even giving that as an option. What is a HH annual in one part of the country could be a tender perennial in another, so an awful lot of time is wasted hopping from one category to another in a forlorn attempt to track down what you're looking for. Although Chiltern are now more expensive than the likes of T&M or Suttons, they'll be getting my order this year, on the principle that at least I'll get it compiled before Easter! Arggggghh!!

 

They also sometimes put the same plant in several times in different catergories.
Alphabetical order of Latin names for me. Like Chiltern and order something from them most years.
I find that less "popular" seed companies tend to have a more rational/logical approach to the layout.

 

Much preferred last years chiltern catalogue it had loads of pictures this year's not very many, must be my childhood love of comics

 

I use on line catalogues rather than paper and usually know what I'm after, using the search function to find seeds although I do tend to get tempted into buying a few extras

 

I like Thomas Etty on line, some really obscure varieties with some dated so if the unusual floats your boat have a look.
Had Junk mail delivered with a copy of D.T.Brown "Special Seed Catalogue" with reduced prices, just nothing in it that appeals.

 

The Sarah Raven catalogue dropped though my letterbox last week and I keep telling myself not to open it but the temptation is great
