    I've got around 21/22 climbing and shrub roses scattered around the garden, but now I'm contemplating planting the climbing rose "Bathsheba" under my Lilac, "Madame Lemoine"' which I love but it only has a brief flowering time.

    If I do decide to buy it, I'll buy it in a pot as while it's not too late to plant bare rooted rose I feel a rose grown in the pot will give it an advantage by already being established in soil/compost that will increase the chances of a first year of planting flowering............any opinions?? I'll @wiseowl, but all opinions are would be gratefully accepted.

      Good evening @ARMANDII its a perfect choice I have one at the surgery where I look after their Roses ,it is a very healthy rose and repeats a lot for a 2nd year bare root grated on Dr Huey. I love this rose with its apricot color, strong, honey, myrrh fragrance and has very double bloom form ( 170 petals). I consider this is one of the perfect roses because it has everything one can wish for in a rose: look, health, fragrance, it will look stunning under your Lilac:smile::blue thumb:

      Bathsheba (AUSchimbley), a David Austin climber rose. Bred in UK before 2016 and released in UK 2016.

        Well, that's that done and dusted as I have just placed an order for "Basheba" which should arrive in a couple of days time:hapfeet::hapydancsmil: I'll have to wait until the weather turns a bit milder and we've lost the really cold weather this present High Pressure is giving us before planting it in front of the Lilac so that "Basheba" can climb up into it. Hopefully, being planted from a pot it might flower this year with a bit of feeding.

          My first rose of 2020 has greeted me with this bloom . @wiseowl ID'd it for me and it has been named "Dublin Bay". Always blooms early and has lifted my flagging spirits today,

              I was wondering. I tend to do that now and then. Sometimes I find myself thinking! Now that is dangerouse.

              So on the lines of the latter. And being as this is the,'Members Roses Thread'. Just a thought. Might we as rose lovers, perhaps fill out a bit, our comments. You know...like Woo ruffling his feathers, that's my bird.

              Can I invite everyone to expand (that's it, deep breaths now, In & Out) Ooops Amandii, too much. You will never get 'lift off at that rate.

              Back to sensibility. We love roses so how about expressin here in our oun words. Just what, exactly does a rose mean to me.

                Hi i have 3 david austin roses and my forth rose was given to my by my auntie as a clipping its now ten years old flowers every year now and roughly September time does anyone know what type it is or called.

                Hers is about 8ft tall and is lovely

                          Bred by David H Austin(1926-2018) (United Kingdom, 2000).
                          Introduced in United Kingdom by David Austin Roses Limited(UK)in 2000 as 'Malvern Hills'.
                          Climber, Large-Flowered Climber, Rambler, Shrub. English Rose Collection.
                          Deep yellow. Mild fragrance. 26 to 40 petals. Average diameter 2.25". Small, full (26-40 petals) bloom form. Occasional repeat later in the season.
                          Climbing.
                          Height of 9' 10" to 10' (300 to 305 cm).
                          USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant.
